Waste Management Inc. (WM) is on the S&P 500 list and is one of America’s leading waste disposal businesses. The company has over 20 million residential, commercial, industrial and municipal customers. The company has 45,000 employees and in 2010 showed revenue of $12.52 billion.
Over the past two years, the company’s stock went from $25 to $38. Then, in the end of July 2011, the stock fell to $28 and has since risen to $33. In addition, the stock pays a quarterly dividend of $0.34 equaling a yearly dividend of $1.36 per share.
Waste Management (WM) is also the biggest waste recycling company in North America. In today’s world, garbage removal is a necessity as important as water, electricity and sewage removal. Even if the economy is weak we expect the demand for this service to grow. In fact, since WM also specializes in recycling, it makes money from the garbage it collects while at the same time keeping North America green.
